Board Members introductions, website introduction and brief bylaws discussion.
Introduction of organizations :
Open to Zilker homeowners, renters, business owners and landlords
Democratic representation of all members through online voting
Dedicated to community improvement
No dues
Discussion of online voting and the mechanics of Helios Voting systems. All members identities are confirmed by a Friends of Zilker Board Member before being granted access to the ability to vote online. Outcomes of votes will be stored on FOZ website, but do not show how each member voted.. Board members will relay voting results to City Council / Friends of Austin Neighborhoods even if the results are contrary to the Board Members personal beliefs.
Discussion of why a new neighborhood association is needed. Board reiterates organizations desire to be inclusive of all interested parties in Zilker. Also discussed importance of allowing all members to vote on matters instead of granting voting rights to members of the Neighborhood Council.
Recommendation made to find Social Chair to help do outreach. Group is in general agreement this is a good idea, but no one volunteered for the job. Members discuss possible social event on July 4.
